CD Content Includes:

After installing PowerPoint viewer found on the first CD, the student has access to the following programs:

*CD #1Core - Introduction –introduces the course, the essentials in producing an image, and some of the terminology associated with x-ray equipment

Introduction to Radiography – illustrates some of these principles and ends in a lab demonstration of positioning for a chest exam

*CD #2Core - Producing Radiographs –Presents in non technical terms the fundamentals of producing  x-rays, some facts about x-rays, and the concepts of kVp, mA, time, mAS, and distance.

Core - Quality – Introduces the concepts of density, contrast, recorded detail and distortion

Core - Technique Management – Illustrates how to select kV, mA, time, mAS and SID with various patients and exams.

*CD #3 – Beginning with an Introduction to Procedures, the student progresses through 7 programs including Chest, Distal Upper Extremities, Distal Lower Extremities, Proximal Upper Extremities and Ribs, Proximal Lower Extremities, and Spine. This CD includes video demonstration of skeletal anatomy in each position.

*CD #4Core - Technique Management2 – Building on CD #2, the student looks more precisely at how to use the technique variables of kVp, mA, time, and SID.

Core - Accessories – The student surveys some information on filters, collimators, grids, and intensifying screens.

Core - Film and Processing – The student looks at film and processing of film. The principles of digital imaging are summarized at the end of this program.

*CD #5The Virtual Lab – 6 interactive exercises are offered to the student to permit “laboratory experience” with changing the technique variables and observing the impact of those changes on film. The 6th exercise illustrates the use of automatic exposure control.

*CD #6 and #7 – These 2 CDs present the science of radiography and include program titles as follows:

Physical Principles of X-ray Production, The X-ray Beam, X-rays and Matter, Radiation Biology,  Reducing the Risks, Regulations

*CD #8 and #9Radiographic Evaluation - With videos and interactive exercises, the student views correct and incorrect positioning and evaluates images against suggested criteria.

*CD #10 The Skull Unit - This CD accompanies the Skull Workbook and includes video of skull anatomy and positioning of the skull.
